It appears Warner Bros. is going back to The Accountant for a sequel to the 2016 film, more importantly will Ben Affleck be returning? The answer is! MAYBE!
According to Deadline, Ben Affleck, director Gavin O’Connor and screenwriter Bill Dubuque are all in talks to return for the potential sequel. The report also said that Jon Bernthal’s character who appeared at the end of the film will be involved in the story of the sequel.
The Accountant starred Ben Affleck as an High-Functioning-Autistic math savant who is a forensics accountant and a hitman. The film more than made back its budget of $44 million dollars. While bringing in a haul of $155 million dollars. Warner Bros. are seeing potential in Bernthal’s ability to add to the sequel and possible franchise and he has already proven well with his role as the Punisher on Daredevil Season 2 and the upcoming Netflix Punisher series.
Ben Affleck on the other hand is in the middle of trying to make an attempt to leave the DCEU while he is committed to star in Justice League as Batman and the possible “The Batman” movie that is being helmed by Matt Reeves.
The Accountant had a 52% rating on RottenTomatoes how ironic.
