Another big name actor has signed on to star in Marvel’s Black Panther and this time its all in the family of T’Challa. Angela Bassett has joined the film in the role of ‘Ramonda’ who Marvel describes as the mother of T’Challa. In the lore of Black Panther however she is King T’Chaka’s second wife after the death of T’Challa’s birth mother N’Yami.
Bassett currently appears on American Horror Story and is well known for films like “Strange Days” and “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” but don’t let that fool you, she has been in comic book adaptations before. She was the first feature film version of Amanda Waller in 2011’s “Green Lantern” which starred Ryan Reynolds. She also appeared in 1990’s “The Flash” as Linda Lake.
Black Panther will be out in theaters on February 16th
