The first issue of SKYBOURNE is fun fantasy and ultra violence for 28 pages filled with blood and … organs. Frank Cho’s combination of art and writing is pulpy and smart in a way that supports the premise of the book. There are three siblings born of Lazarus from the bible who are superhuman and mostly unstoppable.
The bulk of this issue is on Grace Skybourne as she attempts to attain the legendary sword Excalibur. we see the extent of her abilities and we also learn that there are plenty of magical beings and artifacts out there.
I don’t want to give anything extra away but Skybourne is just the right mix of pulpy action that leaves you wanting more. I can’t wait to continue reading SKYBOURNE.
